JOBS!

Maybe we're not talking a lot, but even a few jobs created can make a difference. We expect 2 - 6 employees in each state as we grow.
Help us Win,
Help America Win

Involvement!

We want museums and historical societies and dozens of civic organizations to help with the American Heritage Bee. Let's Connect students and history like never before.
When We Win:

We will need volunteers to organize a bee in every town if we can. You don't need to be a history expert yourself. In fact, you may learn as much as the students.

Have some fun. Meet some great people. Get involved.

Please contact us so we can organize your town in support of history.

Last day to VOTE is December 31
And You Can Vote Once Every Day

Please vote this December for the American Heritage History Bee to help build an annual scholarship program for students from your town, county and State. The Pepsi Refresh Project is awarding a $50,000 grant to the ten projects that receive the most votes. And the American Heritage History Bee is in the running.

What Is It?
You've heard of the Spelling Bee, and the Geography Bee? We're trying to create the History Bee - with Benefits.

The American Heritage History Bee is a competition much like the spelling bee or the geography bee. The contestants will answer questions on American history from the time of Columbus to the present.

If we can also stimulate a greater interest in reading about history, researching early American history, along with involvement with organizations that encompass history in their missions, that would be fantastic. And, of course, providing some college scholarships for our students and grants for their teachers is the premium benefit of the competition.

The plan is to start with local town-based competitions where the winners will each get a minimum $100 scholarship. The town winners will go on to compete at County or regional Bees where they can earn a $500 scholarship. And finally, the regional winners will compete for the State championship with a minimum award of a $5,000 scholarship.

Format of Competitions
The History Bee will use single elimination format, but there will be a second chance option. When a contestant misses a question, they can save themselves from elimination, only once, by correctly answering a question about their own State's history.

One last note - our plan is to raise scholarships with local donations, including equal monetary awards to the winning student's history teacher.

Take Action!
Please - visit http://www.refresheverything.com and vote for the American Heritage History Bee. Give our students a chance to earn college scholarships. Create jobs in the process. And make history teachers and librarians everywhere very, very happy.

Information
For more information, come back December 1st to vote.

When We Launch this Project:
We will need local and regional volunteers. The more volunteers we have, the more sponsors we can get. The more sponsors and donors we have, the bigger the scholarships can be for local, regional and State winners.

Once we get this program launched in one or more States, we plan to expand to a National competition and to increase the scholarship awards. Exercise you're right to vote right now.

Thank you!!!

Widely Adopted
History Textbooks
There are approximately fifteen to twenty-five major college-level American History survey textbooks, depending on one's markers and metrics. Such books are available to high schools and recommended for all able high school students, not only Advanced Placement. Some college surveys are relatively easy to read and have strong narrative threads.
